In de Upstage, boven de 'Extreme'-winkel op de foto, werd sinds de jaren zestig muziek gemaakt door iedereen die er zin in had. Je kwam er binnen, plugde je gitaar in de versterkers, en speelde tot 's ochtends vroeg met andere muzikanten samen. Bruce speelde hier nachten lang, met Vinnie Lopez, Danny Frederici en anderen.
